CRT Major Projects
Over my sophomore second semester, I've had the opportunity to hone in new skills. In this brief presentation, I will showcase projects that detail these skills in 4 major projects.
The Craft-Tape Dispenser
In this project, I was exposed to multiple woodworking tools. The various tools that aided me in this project were a band saw, drill press, power drills, and nail gun. The process began with taking measurements for each wall that would make up the main structure. Once measurements were taken I cut out the pieces using a table saw. From there I cut out square pieces that would be fitted for the kinds of tape. Next, I measured the distance needed for each roll of tape. Thereafter, the last piece which was the metal saw blade at the end was fitted onto the structure by a drill, after two holes were made by a drill press. Finally, I put it all together.
The Molded Cube
This cube here was constructed using stick welding. The processs began with measuring the 6 individual sides which were 3 inches by 3 inches. Then a miter saw was used to cut out the pieces and finally, I used magnets to hold the faces together while welding them together. This process in total took roughly 3-4 hours.
The Patriotic-Organizer
This container is made from a political sign. The box itself was cut carefully along measurements to contain the poly-wall dividers. Then once cut, the sign was folded and held together using zip ties as rivets. Once this was constructed, the dividers were next. This utilized poly-wall which is a material that when heated can take the form of objects. Therefore, I put together the dividers in the order I desired and then lowered the hot poly wall onto it. Once this was done I used a vacuum to suck the plastic into dividers molding it with much more detail. Finally, all that was needed was for the excess ploy wall to be trimmed.
The Hackapron
This custom apron was made to protect one from unexpected splashes of liquid. The process began with measuring out the desired length of the apron. Once this was done a paper model was then cut out. After this, the model was used to trace out and cut out from the final product. The outer edges were then folded in by an inch and then it was sown all around. Finally, the straps were carefully measured around the user and sown onto it. This stylish apron will be used in the process of working with future projects later on.
